Baseball Recap: River Mill Academy Find Success

While River Mill Academy's victory against Southern Wake Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Jaguars had just enough and edged out the Lions 12-10. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

River Mill Academy got a massive performance out of Gavin Loy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave Loy a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Parrish, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

River Mill Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

River Mill Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Southern Wake Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, River Mill Academy will face off against Lee Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.57 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Southern Wake Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Chatham Central at 6:00 p.m. on April 9.
