The East Rutherford Cavaliers fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Polk County 63-20 at home. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point East Rutherford had established a 36 point advantage.
East Rutherford found their leader in underclassman Brandon Pinkerton, who rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Pinkerton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cj Jackson, who picked up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was East Rutherford's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. Polk County's QB won't forget Jordan Dixon anytime soon given Dixon sacked him nine times.
Despite the defeat, Polk County saw an underclassman step up: Loreynzo Sanchez rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
East Rutherford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Polk County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Rutherford will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bunker Hill at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Bunker Hill will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for Polk County, they will head out on the road to face off against Brevard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Brevard will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
