There's no place like home for the Luverne Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Zion Chapel by a score of 50-41 on Friday. This was payback for Luverne, who suffered a 70-55 loss the last time these two teams met.
Several Rebels players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mason Stuart, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. The match was Stuart's third in a row with at least ten points. Slade Grantham was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Luverne's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Zion Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 14-5.
Luverne will be playing in front of their home fans against Pike Liberal Arts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pike Liberal Arts will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while Luverne is ranked 182nd). As for Zion Chapel, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland Home at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
