The Valley Christian Warriors will face off against the Burlingame Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Valley Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
Valley Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against St. Ignatius College Preparatory by a score of 5-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The team relied heavily on Charlotte Coney, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Hu, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Burlingame never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mercy last Friday. They put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 11-5 victory. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Madeline Koo was incredible, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4. Samantha Arce was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Burlingame kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Valley Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burlingame, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Burlingame's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Valley Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Burlingame, though, as they've been averaging only 2.4 strikeouts. Will Valley Christian keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Valley Christian took their win against Burlingame in their previous meeting back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
