Angleton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Clear Lake Falcons 68-7. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
Angleton had a senior duo take command as Bryce Duron threw for 236 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes and Kaleb Jammer picked up 151 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Duron got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 65 yards. Wesley Jackson did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 96 receiving yards.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Angleton's defense and their six sacks. Payton Coon was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Angleton got some further help from Wallace Thornley: he picked up a sack and made ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Looking ahead, Angleton will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Brazoswood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clear Lake, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Cypress Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
