Glen Rock gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 20-7 victory over the Waldwick/Midland Park Warriors. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.
Glen Rock can attribute much of their success to Brendan Burkhardt, who rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Burkhardt's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Tyler Brassil made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Glen Rock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brassil and Burkhardt. Brassil got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glen Rock is headed away from home for the first time to challenge Cresskill at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Waldwick/Midland Park, they will head out to take on Clarkstown North at 6:30 p.m. on September 5.
