The Bastrop Rams put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came out on top against Avoyelles by a score of 41-34. Given Bastrop's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Avoyelles is ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bastrop found their leader in underclassman Alana Myles, who scored 17 points. Myles continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Mariah Heard was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Bastrop pushed their record up to 20-0-1 with that win, which was their 13th straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.9 points per game. As for Avoyelles, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bastrop will take on Mangham at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Avoyelles, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bunkie at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
