Jim Thorpe hasn't had much luck on the road recently (they'd lost six straight dating back to last season) but thanks in part to Maura Malaska that streak is no more. The Olympians had just enough and edged out the Pen Argyl Green Knights 3-2 with plenty of help from Malaska, who had 11 digs and seven aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Jim Thorpe was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-11.
Despite the loss, Pen Argyl saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily McHale had 24 digs and one assist. McHale also put up an ace, which was her first of the season.
Jim Thorpe's record now sits at 4-5. As for Pen Argyl, they now also have a losing record of 4-5.
