Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since February 26th.
The team relied heavily on Jarrett Newell, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Tate Yount was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Eastern Alamance's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Person, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Person has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eastern Alamance struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Person took their win against Eastern Alamance when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-3 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
