It had been 1,428 days since Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah)
lost a high school football game but that streak came to an end Thursday night as Lone Peak (Highland, Utah)
beat the No. 13 team in the MaxPreps Top 25, 41-16. The loss snapped the program's 48-game win streak, tied with Duchesne for the most consecutive victories in state history.
Lone Peak's total of 41 points was the most Corner Canyon has allowed since its last loss on Nov. 9, 2017 against Skyridge (Lehi).
The victorious Knights improved to 5-2 on the season and bounced back after a 14-9 loss last week against Skyridge. The only other loss came against No. 19 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Sept. 11.
Corner Canyon drove right down the field on its opening possession but Lone Peak's defense stiffened in the red zone, forcing a field goal attempt Cody Christensen
converted from 23 yards.
That would be Corner Canyon's only lead of the game.
Senior quarterback Easton Comer
led Lone Peak on a 15-play, 80-yard drive capped with a three-yard touchdown run from Luke Durfey
to give the Knights a 7-3 lead with 3:30 left in the first quarter. Braden Carr
stretched the lead to 10-3 midway through the second quarter with the first of his two field goals.

led the Chargers on a 12-play, 80-yard drive capped with a five-yard touchdown pass to Cody Hagen
with 4:09 left in the first half.
After Lone Peak's drive stalled nearing the end of the first half, Carr made a 31-yard field goal to give the Knights a 13-10 lead with 1:13 left in the second quarter.
The Knights set the tone on their opening possession of the second half thanks to a 61-yard completion from Comer to Crew McChesney
to set Lone Peak up in the red zone. Luke Hyde
caught a 16-yard touchdown two plays later to increase the lead to 20-10 with 10:20 left in the third quarter.
After Brown found Hagen for a 34-yard completion to set Corner Canyon up in Lone Peak territory, a holding call followed by a Connor Kelley
sack forced another Charger punt.
Lone Peak drove right down the field with a 9-play, 91-yard drive capped off with a Jaxson Willits
one-yard touchdown run to take a 27-10 lead with 5:27 left in the third.
Durfey added another rushing score with 7:46 left in the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 34-10.
Brown found Blaze DeGracie
from seven yards out to cut the deficit to 34-16 with six minutes left but that was the last score of the night for the Chargers.
Willits scored his second rushing touchdown of the night with :40 left that resulted in the final score, 41-16.
Lone Peak dominated the time of possession as they finished the night having the ball for 32:51 compared to Corner Canyon's 15:09. Another telling stat was the Knights outrushed the Chargers 277-25. Lone Peak's offensive line had a tremendous night headlined by three-star senior Trevor Pay
. Comer also threw for a career high in the victory.
Corner Canyon looks to bounce back next week at Pleasant Grove to close out the regular season while Lone Peak hosts Westlake (Saratoga Springs).
