It had been 1,428 days since
Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) lost a high school football game but that streak came to an end Thursday night as
Lone Peak (Highland, Utah) beat the No. 13 team in the MaxPreps Top 25, 41-16. The loss snapped the program's 48-game win streak, tied with Duchesne for the most consecutive victories in state history.
Lone Peak's total of 41 points was the most Corner Canyon has allowed since its last loss on Nov. 9, 2017 against Skyridge (Lehi).
The victorious Knights improved to 5-2 on the season and bounced back after a 14-9 loss last week against Skyridge. The only other loss came against No. 19 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Sept. 11.
Corner Canyon drove right down the field on its opening possession but Lone Peak's defense stiffened in the red zone, forcing a field goal attempt
Cody Christensen converted from 23 yards.
That would be Corner Canyon's only lead of the game.
Senior quarterback
Easton Comer led Lone Peak on a 15-play, 80-yard drive capped with a three-yard touchdown run from
Luke Durfey to give the Knights a 7-3 lead with 3:30 left in the first quarter.
Braden Carr stretched the lead to 10-3 midway through the second quarter with the first of his two field goals.

The Knights set the tone on their opening possession of the second half thanks to a 61-yard completion from Comer to
Crew McChesney to set Lone Peak up in the red zone.
Luke Hyde caught a 16-yard touchdown two plays later to increase the lead to 20-10 with 10:20 left in the third quarter.
After Brown found Hagen for a 34-yard completion to set Corner Canyon up in Lone Peak territory, a holding call followed by a
Connor Kelley sack forced another Charger punt.
Lone Peak drove right down the field with a 9-play, 91-yard drive capped off with a
Jaxson Willits one-yard touchdown run to take a 27-10 lead with 5:27 left in the third.

Brown found
Blaze DeGracie from seven yards out to cut the deficit to 34-16 with six minutes left but that was the last score of the night for the Chargers.
Willits scored his second rushing touchdown of the night with :40 left that resulted in the final score, 41-16.
Lone Peak dominated the time of possession as they finished the night having the ball for 32:51 compared to Corner Canyon's 15:09. Another telling stat was the Knights outrushed the Chargers 277-25. Lone Peak's offensive line had a tremendous night headlined by three-star senior
Trevor Pay. Comer also threw for a career high in the victory.
Corner Canyon looks to bounce back next week at Pleasant Grove to close out the regular season while Lone Peak hosts Westlake (Saratoga Springs).
