The Alleghany Trojans posted their closest win since December 20, 2023 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mount Airy 57-54. This was a revenge match for Alleghany, as the team was forced to settle for a 64-60 defeat when these two played last Tuesday.
Alleghany got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mack Lemasters out in front who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of John Lemasters, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Mario Revels and Rylan Venable certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Revels scored 20 points, while Venable scored 13 points along with two blocks. It was the first time this season that Venable posted two or more blocks. Jourdain Hill was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds.
Alleghany pushed their record up to 7-11 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Mount Airy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.
Alleghany will head out on the road to take on the Vikings at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. North Stokes knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully the Trojans like a good challenge. As for Mount Airy, they will be playing at home against the Rams at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jordon Dobson and Revels.
