Rye has gone 7-1 against Crowley County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Thunderbolts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 11:00 a.m. Crowley County took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rye, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Rye turned things around against Colorado Springs Christian on Wednesday. They blew past the Lions 16-4. The Thunderbolts' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Derek Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Branson Burbidge and Wyatt Scheid did most of the damage at the plate: Burbidge got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI, while Scheid went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Scheid a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kam Arnold, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Rye was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Colorado Springs Christian only posted a batting average of .273.
Peyton hit Crowley County with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chargers lost 11-4 to the Panthers. The Chargers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Tritt Buhr made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Rye's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Crowley County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rye has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Crowley County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rye took their victory against Crowley County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6 score. Will the Thunderbolts repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
