The Green Bobcats and the Symmes Valley Vikings will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
Green pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-61 bruising from New Hope Christian Academy. Green has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Symmes Valley posted their closest victory yet this season on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Ripley-Union-Lewis-Huntington out 53-50. The victory was just what Symmes Valley needed coming off of a 65-24 defeat in their prior contest.
Jacob Cade and Ethan Smith were among the main playmakers for Symmes Valley as the former scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least a third of Symmes Valley's points. Aydan Taylor was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Green has fallen quite a ways from their 20-6 record last season and are now at 2-10. As for Symmes Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Green was able to grind out a solid win over Symmes Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 73-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Green since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
