The Sanger Apaches and the Clovis East Timberwolves squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Sanger Apaches had to settle for second. Sanger fell just short of Clovis East by a score of 17-14. Sanger's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Sanger still got an impressive performance from Israel Robles, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns. Robles is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Leading Clovis East to victory were Tommy Nix and Tyus Miller. Nix picked up 134 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Miller threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns. Nix hasn't dropped below 100 receiving yards for four straight games.
Sanger's loss dropped their record down to 10-2. As for Clovis East, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Sanger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Clovis East will head out on the road to face off against Clovis North at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Clovis North will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
