The St. Francis Sharks were the 57-53 winner over the Watsonville Wildcatz when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. St. Francis fell to Watsonville 66-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (58), St. Francis still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why St. Francis lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Sam Braun. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. That was a full 43.3% of St. Francis' points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mason Borrego was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
St. Francis has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season. As for Watsonville, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marina has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 384 points over their last six contests. As for Watsonville, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Pacific Grove at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Hopefully Pacific Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday.
