The Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-34 victory over Rensselaer at home. Winning may never get old, but Coxsackie-Athens sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coxsackie-Athens to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Sitcer, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Sitcer hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Reaghan Hellen, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Coxsackie-Athens' win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Rensselaer, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season.
Coxsackie-Athens will head out on the road to face off against Chatham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rensselaer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Watervliet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Watervliet presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rensselaer in New York (Watervliet is ranked 228th, while Rensselaer is ranked 490th).
