Ashwaubenon has gone a perfect 8-0 against Manitowoc Lincoln recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Jaguars will look to defend their home field against the Ships at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Ashwaubenon's favor as the team sits on 16 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Manitowoc Lincoln has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
If Ashwaubenon beats Manitowoc Lincoln with seven runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Jaguars beat West De Pere on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Grace Aichele spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ashwaubenon got a massive performance out of Elly Kirst, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most hits Kirst has posted since back in May of 2024. Kahlee James was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Ashwaubenon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Manitowoc Lincoln came up short against Oshkosh North on Saturday, falling 9-3.
Hailey Van Kauwenberg was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Peterson, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Ashwaubenon's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Manitowoc Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Manitowoc Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Ashwaubenon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Manitowoc Lincoln, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Ashwaubenon keep running through batters, or will the Ships buck the trend?
Ashwaubenon took their victory against Manitowoc Lincoln in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Jaguars repeat their success, or do the Ships have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
