The biggest upset of the week belonged to South El Monte, who took down 412th ranked El Monte, 33-20. Jerry Valencia in the win.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in Mission Valley this week by beating the Lions, 33-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Brandon Martinez and Bryan Luevano gave El Monte a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Martinez threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns, while Luevano ran for 55 yards. Teammate Martinez added to the ground attack by rushing for 13 yards.
Steven San Miguel was the best wideout in the league this week as Rosemead topped Mountain View. San Miguel racked up four receptions for 149 yards. Jesse Audelo helped Rosemead's passing attack out by catching one ball for one yard.
El Monte's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Martinez has thrown for 3548 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, while Abel Barrajas has 58 catches for 1074 yards. Luevano leads the league in rushing with 751 yards.
Arroyo moved up to 537 from 573 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Mission Valley. The Knights climbed the ranks as a result of beating Gabrielino 28-0.
