Mount Dora and Wekiva are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. Mount Dora will host Wekiva at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Mount Dora will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Mount Dora's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Ocoee by a score of 3-0.

James Carroll looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Preston Rhodes, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Irwin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Wekiva lost 17-4 to Gateway last Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Brady Reinert was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Cody Bowen was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Wekiva always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. This was only their first loss (out of five games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Mount Dora pushed their record up to 10-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wekiva, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Dora has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wekiva struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Mount Dora's way against Wekiva when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Mount Dora made off with a 10-0 victory. Will Mount Dora repeat their success, or does Wekiva has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
