Baseball Recap: Winnetonka Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Winnetonka owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Raytown South Cardinals. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sam Reisenbichler made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other pitching news, Hunter Nading looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Kroll, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Crockett, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Winnetonka hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Raytown South struck out nine times.

The victory (which was Winnetonka's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Raytown South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-21 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Winnetonka will head out to take on Kearney at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Raytown South, they will venture away from home to challenge Ruskin at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
