Football Recap: Klamath Union Skates Past La Pine with Ease

There's no place like home for Klamath Union, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed past the La Pine Hawks to the tune of 38-10 on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pelicans also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

A big part of Klamath Union's win came down to the chemistry between Reese Johnson and his top target Gavin Coe. Johnson threw for 376 yards and six TDs while picking up 13.9 yards per attempt while Coe picked up 260 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Those 260 receiving yards gave Coe a new career-high. Tildon Coffman was in the mix as well, providing Klamath Union with two scores.

Klamath Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nicco Kovacic, Johnson, Coffman, and Travyn Ruano picked up one apiece.

The victory got Klamath Union back to even at 1-1. As for La Pine, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Klamath Union will head out to square off against South Umpqua at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. As for La Pine, they will look to defend their home field on the 19th against Nyssa at 7:00 p.m.
