Softball Recap: Clear Fork Wins Going Away Against Shelby

After losing to Shelby the last time they met, Clear Fork decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Colts put the hurt on the Whippets with a sharp 7-1 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Colts have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Miley Shafer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

At the plate, Katrina Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since April 2nd. Jada Brokaw was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Clear Fork hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.

Clear Fork's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Shelby, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

Looking ahead, Clear Fork will square off against Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will need to watch out since the Minutemen have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests. As for Shelby, they will take on Bellevue at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
