Baseball Recap: Paintsville Wins Going Away Against Prestonsburg

The matchup between Paintsville and Prestonsburg on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Tigers blew past the Blackcats 15-5. Considering the Tigers have won 15 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Anderson Lauffer was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Brayden Davis, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Paintsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Paintsville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 24-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Prestonsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-23.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paintsville will square off against Blazer at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Tomcats at the right time seeing as the Tomcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Prestonsburg, they will take on Johnson Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Blackcats surely won't give up without a fight.
