The biggest upset of the week belonged to Monterey, who took down 220th ranked Jackson County, 36-30.
The Wildcats were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in A District 7. Monterey vanquished the Blue Devils 36-30 earlier in the week.
Watertown's dynamic duo of Ty Jobe and Jake Belcher proved tough for Clay County to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jobe threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns and Belcher had 76 yards receiving. Cooper Jacobsen helped Watertown's passing attack out by catching two balls for 68 yards.
Tanner Martin made the biggest impact on defense this week as Friendship Christian bested Trousdale County. The 6-foot-0 senior forced one fumble.
Steven Hollis was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 156 yards as the Commanders topped the Bulldogs. Austin Taylor also contributed to the rushing game with 37 yards on the ground.
Friendship Christian's AJ Long and Stefan Remus have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Long has thrown for 1546 yards this season, while Remus has 15 catches for 471 yards. Kaelin Cason from Gordonsville leads the league in rushing with 940 yards.
The top two teams in A District 7 will face off this week when first place Watertown takes on second place Friendship Christian. Last week, Watertown bested Clay County, while John McNeal's team defeated the Yellowjackets.
The Tigers' Cason is a mere 60 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
There should be lots of points scored when Gavin Webster's team and the Commanders face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Purple Tigers comes in having scored 289 this season, while Friendship Christian has scored 285. Watertown scored 66 points last week as it beat Dickie Brown's team.
The Purple Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Bulldogs, 66-34. The win marks sixth in a row for the Watertown.
