The Duncan Wildkats were the 53-50 winner over the Patagonia Lobos when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Duncan fell 43-36 to Patagonia on Thursday. Duncan's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Isiah Sumner and Isaac Harris certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Sumner dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds, while Harris scored ten points along with five steals. Harris has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played.
Among those leading the charge was Diego Carranza, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and six steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Castro, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Duncan has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Patagonia, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Duncan will square off against Tombstone at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tombstone is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Patagonia won't have much time to rest: their next game is against The Gregory School at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. The Gregory School knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Patagonia likes a good challenge.
