The Reading Blue Devils will head out to take on the Western Brown Broncos at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Reading came out on top against Finneytown on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run seventh inning. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Wildcats. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Blue Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Connor Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charlie Hess, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Carter Reed was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Reading always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Finneytown only posted an OBP of .344.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Brown). Everything went their way against Clermont Northeastern on Friday as they made off with a 14-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Like Reading, Western Brown also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Jetter. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Jetter was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carter Saylor was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Western Brown is 3-1 when Saylor posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was William Stewart, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
The win got Western Brown back to even at 7-7. As for Reading, their record is now 12-6.
