Manteo has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Camden County Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Manteo's 16-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. The match between Manteo and Holmes wasn't particularly close, with Manteo falling 52-35.
Despite their loss, Manteo saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sydnee Ballance, who scored 15 points along with two blocks, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 42.9% of Manteo's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was CC Lowe, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Camden County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 38-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pasquotank County.
Manteo dropped their record down to 4-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Camden County, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything came up roses for Manteo against Camden County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 64-37 win. With Manteo ahead 35-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
