The Nova Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season. They put the hurt on McArthur with a sharp 45-22 win on Thursday. The score was close at the half, but Nova pulled away in the second half with 28 points.
Leading Nova to victory were J'Yan Tyrell and Imony Housey. Tyrell dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds, while Housey scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Housey pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayeli Firmin, who scored ten points.
Nova pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for McArthur, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-1.
Nova will be home for the holidays to greet Central at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Central: 28.3, Nova: 29.3) so any points scored will be well earned. McArthur won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pompano Beach at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Pompano Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 537th, while McArthur is ranked 128th).
