Softball Recap: Roosevelt Comes Up Short

Roosevelt dropped their record down to 12-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 12-4 to the Allen Park Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 two weeks ago.

Roosevelt saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Papler, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Allen Park, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs.

On Allen Park's side, Melody Filipiak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Filipiak has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run.

In other batting news, Mak Sitarski and Mallory Hool did most of the damage at the plate: Sitarski went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles, while Hool went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. That's the most hits Sitarski has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kiley Carr, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Roosevelt will welcome Taylor at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Griffins will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight. As for Allen Park, they will head out to challenge Trenton at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jaguars will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
