Middletown is 0-10 against the Aviators since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Middletown Middies will head out on the road to face off against the Sycamore Aviators at 7:30 p.m. Middletown will be strutting in after a victory while the Aviators will be coming in after a loss.
Middletown has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 60-43 win over Edgewood on Saturday. Middletown pushed the score to 47-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cougars cut but never quite recovered from.
Meanwhile, Sycamore's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 49-24 defeat at the hands of Lakota West. While losing is never fun, Sycamore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Firebirds are ranked 41st).
Middletown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-13 record this season. As for Sycamore, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-14.
Middletown lost to the Aviators on the road by a decisive 47-32 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Middletown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
