The Quinter Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Quinter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Quinter ultimately got the result they hoped for. They snuck past Victoria with a 48-44 victory.
Shea Salyers was the offensive standout of the matchup as he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Gunner Catura was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Wheatland-Grinnell couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Logan/Palco on Friday, falling 68-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wheatland-Grinnell in their matchups with Logan/Palco: they've now lost five in a row.
Quinter's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Wheatland-Grinnell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything came up roses for Quinter against Wheatland-Grinnell in their previous meeting back in February as the team secured a 71-35 win. Does Quinter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wheatland-Grinnell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
