Basketball Recap: Yerington Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kenneth Picotte and Colby Rowe

If Yerington was riding high fresh off their 55-35 takedown of Oasis Academy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yerington Lions took a 71-56 bruising from the West Wendover Wolverines on Friday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Despite the loss, Yerington had strong showings from Colby Rowe, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points along with eight boards and three steals, and Kenneth Picotte, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. The game was Rowe's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Toby Juarez, who earned ten points.

It was another big night for Adryan Carlos, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine boards for West Wendover. That's the most points Carlos has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Estaban Correa, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.

Yerington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for West Wendover, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Yerington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-49 loss against Battle Mountain on the 25th. West Wendover has also already played their next contest, a 69-37 win against Oasis Academy on the 25th.
