Holyoke's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with a 49-37 victory over West Springfield. That looming 49-37 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Holyoke yet this season.
Central was handed a 28-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Holy Cross on Sunday. Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Holy Cross and snuck past 46-44. The win was just what Central needed coming off of a 69-41 loss in their prior match.
Jai-lyn Garvin-martin was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Holyoke's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3. As for Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Holyoke took a serious blow against Central in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 77-37. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Holyoke was down 46-18.
