Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Eastlake

Victory Christian Academy won the last time they faced Eastlake and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Victory Christian Academy Knights breezed by the Eastlake Titans to the tune of 82-37. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 199th, while the Titans are ranked 458th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Victory Christian Academy was led to victory by Troy Tominna and Isaiah Owens. Tominna went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Owens almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. That's the most rebounds Tominna has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Gray, who posted ten points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Victory Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

The victory got Victory Christian Academy back to even at 12-12. As for Eastlake, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

Victory Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Mater Dei Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Victory Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67 points per game this season. As for Eastlake, they will host Olympian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Olympian also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 61.5 points per game.
