Baseball Recap: Harbor Light Christian Picks Up 18th Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harbor Light Christian). They never let the Boyne Falls Loggers get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Saturday. The Swordsmen are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 18 straight.

Daniel Urman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Ayden Burns and Vaughn Henagan did most of the damage at the plate: Burns went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Henagan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most runs Burns has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Rose, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Harbor Light Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .536. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 18 consecutive contests.

Harbor Light Christian's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.1 runs over those games. As for Boyne Falls, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Harbor Light Christian beat Boyne Falls by a score of 20-0 later that day.
