The Pflugerville Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Bastrop Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Pflugerville and 11 for Bastrop.
Last Friday, Pflugerville came up short against Cedar Creek and fell 58-45. While losing is never fun, Pflugerville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 641st, while Cedar Creek is ranked 211th).
Bastrop suffered their biggest defeat since November 30, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 67-33 defeat at the hands of Georgetown. That's two games in a row now that Bastrop has lost by exactly 34 points.
Pflugerville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Bastrop, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-18.
Everything came up roses for Pflugerville against Bastrop in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 74-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pflugerville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
