The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for STEM School Highlands Ranch in their matchups with Alameda: they've now lost three in a row.
STEM School Highlands Ranch's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Calme, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Calme has scored all season. Tyler Munro was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Alameda's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Efrain Huerta led the charge by scoring 12 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Huerta grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Brian Sanchez, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds and six assists.
STEM School Highlands Ranch has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season. As for Alameda, their victory ended a 17-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-10.
STEM School Highlands Ranch will challenge Aurora West College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Aurora West College Prep Academy is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Alameda, they will be playing at home against Conifer at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Conifer is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
