The McClatchy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 78-51 defeat at the hands of Grant. While losing is never fun, McClatchy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 816th, while the Pacers are ranked 177th).
Despite the loss, McClatchy still got an impressive performance from Kendall Andrews, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Andrews hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Jake Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
McClatchy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Grant, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McClatchy will take on the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Burbank is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.6 points per game this season. As for Grant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monterey Trail is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
