Basketball Game Preview: Berean Christian vs. Providence Academy

Berean Christian is 1-6 against Providence Academy since November of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Berean Christian are taking a road trip to face off against Providence Academy at 6:30 p.m. Berean Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.

Berean Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Glenwood last Saturday. Berean Christian might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Glenwood an easy 74-49 win. While losing is never fun, Berean Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 312th in Tennessee, while Glenwood is ranked 141st in Alabama).

Despite the defeat, Berean Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kaden Duncan went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Duncan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Copeland, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Providence Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They strolled past Happy Valley with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 80-66.

Providence Academy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.9 points. As for Berean Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Berean Christian skirted past Providence Academy 59-56 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Providence Academy's Isaiah Peters-Daniels, who had 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
