Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up eight more assists than your opponent, a fact the Eagle Valley Devils proved on Friday. They claimed a resounding 74-32 win over Grand Valley at home. Given Eagle Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while Grand Valley is ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Brian Fontana, who scored 15 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Dylan J zoller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Grand Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Porter Ostermiller. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Ostermiller is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Uriel De La Rosa, who scored six points.
Eagle Valley's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Grand Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Eagle Valley and Kent Denver will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Kent Denver knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Eagle Valley likes a good challenge. Grand Valley and Basalt will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Allowing an average of 58.4 points per game, Basalt has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this matchup.
