Even though the Rogers Rams scored an imposing 64 points on Friday, the South Kitsap Wolves still came out on top. South Kitsap took their match against Rogers 76-64. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as South Kitsap did.
Leading South Kitsap to victory were Tyler Hansen and Josiah Asuega. Hansen scored 19 points, while Asuega dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kenny Miller, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Rogers' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Treyshawn Weatherspoon, who scored 20 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Dylan Gilderhus who scored 20 points. Weatherspoon scored a full 31.3% of Rogers' points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Amanna Anusiem was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals.
South Kitsap's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Rogers, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Kitsap will challenge Olympia at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rogers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bellarmine Prep at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th.
