Poly extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-4. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Yucaipa Thunderbirds. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunderbirds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Violet Espin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Wood, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
As for Yucaipa, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 8, 2025.
On Yucaipa's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Brooklyn Dent gave up five earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Dent has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madison King, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Peyton Seevers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poly will face off against Rancho Cucamonga at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Yucaipa, they will square off against King at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
