After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Olmsted Falls, the North Ridgeville Rangers were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They took down Avon 52-38. Given North Ridgeville's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Avon is ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Avon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Molly Drenik. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Drenik has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times she's played. Makenzie Ptacek was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
North Ridgeville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Avon, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Ridgeville will challenge Berea-Midpark at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Avon on the road again on Friday and play against Olmsted Falls at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
