Soccer Recap: South Dade Drops Season-High Score on Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Dade). Their defense stepped up to hand the Central Rockets an 8-0 shutout on Friday. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Rockets are ranked 499th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Dade's offense was hitting Central from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Keller Andrade led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

The victory (which was South Dade's third in a row) raised their record to 8-1-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matches. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4-2.

South Dade will head out on the road to challenge Keys Gate at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. South Dade's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Keys Gate's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Central, they will be home for the holidays to greet Westland Hialeah at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for six straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
