Four new teams take over the No. 1 spot in their respective regions with Joliet Catholic (Joliet, Ill.) the only returning No. 1 in this week's MaxPreps Regional Baseball Rankings.
Jolie Catholic remains the top team in the Midwest, but Valley Christian (San Jose, Calif.) is the new No. 1 team in the West. Godley (Texas) takes over the top spot in the Southwest, Faith Academy (Mobile, Ala.) moves to the No. 1 ranking in the South and Manalapan (Englishtown, N.J.) is the new No. 1 in the Northeast.
The regional rankings are based on the MaxPreps National Baseball Computer Rankings. The team's record and computer rating are noted in the rankings. Numbers are current as of Tuesday.
The 50 states are divided into five regions as follows:
West: Hawaii, California, Nevada, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Colorado.
Southwest: Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona.
South: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia.
Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas.
Northeast: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia.
States not included: Montana and Wyoming (do not have baseball), Iowa (season is during the summer).
