Wooster has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Wooster focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, Wooster had just enough and edged Orrville out 48-45. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Wooster has scored all year.
Wooster's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Bowen, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bowen has scored at least 25% of Wooster's points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Carmean, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon was beaten by Hayes 74-38 on Wednesday. Mt. Vernon has struggled against Hayes recently, as their game on Wednesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Wooster's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Wooster came out on top in a nail-biter against Mt. Vernon in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 60-58. Does Wooster have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Vernon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
