Wilmington kept up with Herscher until halftime on Thursday, but afterwards: not so much. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 5-1. Considering Herscher have won seven games by more than three goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Herscher's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those three matches. As for Wilmington, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Coming up, Herscher will take on Reed-Custer at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Herscher will need to watch out since Reed-Custer have now posted at least four goals in their last five contests. As for Wilmington, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next game, a 7-1 defeat against Coal City on the 22nd.
