Wall is a perfect 10-0 against Merkel since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Wall is taking a road trip to square off against Merkel at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Wall's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Wall duked it out with Grape Creek on Tuesday. Wall blew past Grape Creek 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Kellan Oliver was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Wall got a massive performance out of Gunnar Dillard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Dillard launched this season. Another player making a difference was Reid Ballard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Wall always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grape Creek only posted an OBP of .294.
Meanwhile, Merkel fell victim to Clyde and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 6-0 to the Bulldogs. The Badgers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Merkel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mayson Prieto, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.
Wall pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Merkel, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-1.
Wall took their win against Merkel in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Will Wall repeat their success, or does Merkel has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
