Northwest hasn't had much luck against Clarksville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will challenge the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Northwest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Northwest took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Varsity Opponent. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
May Barnholtz and Isabella Coon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Barnholtz tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Coon pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Barnholtz posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At the plate, Barnholtz went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Coon got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clarksville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Montgomery Central 6-5. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kalea Masigat and Johanna Williams dominated on the mound. Masigat tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits, while Williams tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, MacKenzie White was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adelyn Butler, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Northwest's record now sits at 6-12. As for Clarksville, their record is now 13-8.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Northwest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .443. However, it's not like Clarksville struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Northwest might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Clarksville in their previous matchup on April 11th. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
